Dreamy Hawaiian Beachside Bridals – Katie + Zach

Katie and Zach’s bridal session on the coast of Kauai is one that I will never forget. First and foremost, traveling to Hawaii for the Wild and Unwritten Workshop alone was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. (The Wild and Unwritten Workshop has been such a quintessential part of my growth as a business owner and photographer, it was such a necessary, beautiful, and fantastic week).

Katie and Zach took a cute bike ride before the session, which was honestly a new and fun thing to shoot! I love how child-like it feels. Some of my favorite memories from childhood include riding my bike, and how sweet is it to ride bikes with your boo thang?! After their bike ride together, Katie and Zach took photos together in a beautiful, hand crafted bohemian wicker chair with cushions. And shortly after, we hit the gorgeous beach for some sunny golden glow on the sand. Imagine stepping outside on a spring evening, watching as the fiery golden sun dips just below the clouds and tucks away for the night… imagine that crisp, perfect ocean spray air, a cool breeze gently teasing your face — THAT was our evening session on the beach. You could smell salt in the air, and feel the perfection of the temperature as we laughed and photographed together.

Katie’s dress was designed and crafted by Daughters of Simone, and she completely rocked her two piece boho-style gown while we danced on the beach. Katie and Zach, by the way, are total goofballs, and it was honestly so much fun to delve a little into their mannerisms as a couple. One thing I really love about shooting with amazing couples is getting a little glimpse into their relationship together — the little things that make them who they are together. I love that aspect of my job as a photographer so much… capturing people for who they are!

A quick and final piece of what made this evening beachside session so much fun was that the dog in these photos was a total stranger to us! No jokes whatsoever, this stray dog came up to us from out of nowhere and was so sweet! He ran over to us and laid down at Zach’s feet, flipped over on his back, and was wagging his tail as we rubbed his belly. Our beachside session together was definitely one for the books! I had a blast shooting with Katie and Zach, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity I had to shoot with them!
